The first is because they're tasty and have vitamins. The second is because they're rather strongly flavoured and spicing them with orange peel in the preparation apparently makes them more palatable to some people.
Well, some people don't like it. I've had haggis and enjoyed it, though I think I didn't like it much the first time, so some people might also think I'm not too good a judge. ;) I think they're probably best if very fresh.
Do you find you like it rarer than you used to? I've found there are some things I like to eat as a wolf that I doubt would be quite as good the rest of the time....
