I have seriously spent like half my day trying to figure out what I did to break my like, student loan repayment page, because seriously, it's showing I owe 0.00 and I'm kinda freaked outtttttttttt about that. I haven't even started paying it, I was just making sure all the tuition from this semester got in and my financial aid didn't get messed up.

Bobby, dude, can you help me with this, cause I'm way freaked out here.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to be really bad at math (or computers) to take a bunch of unpaid college debt, add it up, and get zero.

Just sayin'.

Oh, I am totally that bad at something. Mostly I'm just like what if I got it hacked or like I owe it but it's invisible and I can't pay it and dammit I KNEW this was a bad idea.

Yeaaah, what Wade said ;)

And I probably shouldn't make any further comments about clerical errors in finances lest it reflect badly on me with the Feds, but woo hoo if it's permanently broken!

But what if I can't pay it and then I owe it forever and my credit sucks?

Bank error in your favor, collect $200! Or something like that.

From: [identity profile] x-deadpool.livejournal.com
Someone hacked you... to pay off your debt? I'm not entirely sure that's a bad thing, dude. And what, like college was a bad idea?

From: [identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com
Going into debt. It's a bad idea, man. It's like negative money that follows you around forever.

Date: 2011-09-22 03:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-deadpool.livejournal.com
But isn't the point of the education thing to then pay off the debt? So it's like. Pretend money.

Date: 2011-09-22 03:05 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com
Yeah, but it's ... now it's like mystery like zeros and zeros are confusing anyway, they're all there and like being nothing and I don't know how it's zeros and not like the loan number.

It wouldn't be the first time someone at the mansion got themselves a mysterious (or not so mysterious) benefactor. Nate paid off a lot of debts for "his" people, for example - I wound up with a whole trust fund. Benefits of having a profession that means you have loads of money that you don't have to pay tax on.

(and no, it wasn't me - the job pays well, but not that well)

Zero is just... zero. Numbers only really get confusing when they're really really there or pretend. Or negative. Negative numbers can be confusing, too. Mostly, you should just apply real-world scenarios to things and that helps most of the time. Like, you can't have negative bad guys to punch in the face. That's not practical. Or something.

Maybe my Benevolent Benefactor (giver of pie) has decided to branch out into larger monetary donations?

Date: 2011-09-22 03:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com
Except that like I gotta deal with negative numbers cause dude, I was at like negative what's the word, net worth?

Wait, who gave you pie? Did you find out?

Can people do that, just like walk up to a college or something and be like "Hey, can I pay this kid's loan?"

So call tomorrow and see? The worst that happens is they made a mistake and you still owe what you expected.

Yeah, I just hate sitting on the phone because ew, gross sweaty ear.

From: [identity profile] x-deadpool.livejournal.com
No idea. But I got a person looking into it.

Also, think practically, dude. You were negative. You're not negative now. That's a good thing.

And, continuing with the 'practical' thing here, you could probably go talk to the financial aid people or whatever to be like, "Hey, where'd my debt go?" They can either go, "Oh, this was a mistake, we'll give you all your debt back ASAP!" Or y'know. Explain whatever.

Just ask about it tomorrow to see if someone can tell you what's going on.

I can think of worse things in life than that. Like owing a bunch of money you don't know about and having the tax collectors and IRS and stuff on your ass. And getting evicted. Being evicted sucks.

Much as it pains me to refute unearned credit, it was not I. Though as you now find yourself with a sudden surplus of unallotted funds you are welcome to pretend I am and buy us a round.

From: [identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com
It's gonna have to wait until I confirm it with the school or Sallie Mae or whoever cause if it's just some weird error I'm going to be poor again.

Date: 2011-09-22 03:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com
Unless it's a mistake and then I'm negative again.

Date: 2011-09-22 03:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-deadpool.livejournal.com
But you were negative before. So that's like. Going back to the status quo or something.

Is 'quo' a word?

From: [identity profile] x-deadpool.livejournal.com
If he goes back to being poor, I'll buy you guys a round. What kind of round would that even be? I feel like celebrating Kyle being poor again isn't exactly what we should be aiming for here.

Date: 2011-09-22 03:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-emplate.livejournal.com
Valid point. Between your healing factor and my spectacular tolerance I imagine a round is worth at least a monthly installment.

Think of it thusly: Either you are debt-free in truth, or you shall have a wonderful opportunity to build future credit. Regardless, the outcome shall be a triumph of capitalism.

Date: 2011-09-22 03:29 am (UTC)

A round of commiseration, of course.

So like... a pity round?

Date: 2011-09-22 03:39 am (UTC)

Precisely. As I learned from my days in hospital, the fruits of pity are highly underrated.

Date: 2011-09-22 03:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-deadpool.livejournal.com
I like you. I would buy you a round purely because you said "thusly" and "triumph of capitalism" unironically. Maybe two - two rounds for you.

Date: 2011-09-22 03:51 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-emplate.livejournal.com
I like you.

And I you. Purely because you intend to buy me a round.

Maybe two.

It will be a relationship born over alcohol. How can it be anything but?

. . . Well, that is not entirely true. I can recall one or two that were not. But unless your name is secretly Ashlii or you are in possession of a suspect lower-back tattoo I am not overly worried.

Date: 2011-09-22 04:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-deadpool.livejournal.com
I am not secretly named Ashlii and I have no tattoos. Promise.

How do you feel about Bea Arthur?

Date: 2011-09-22 04:06 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] x-emplate.livejournal.com
Mildly intimidated, but only because I suspect she could take me in a fight.

Date: 2011-09-22 04:07 am (UTC)

Good man. I think I will buy you three rounds for that answer alone. Which brings your total to four. Maybe five.

I know this one! quo is latin for which, or something like that. status quo is derived from Latin, statu quo. I totally looked it up one time.

I think so? I mean, you'd probably have to know _something_ about the person, or they'd ask questions or something. But people donate stuff to colleges all the time, right? At least you don't have to name a building after this person, or hop on one leg for a month or something weird like that.
